Formation of the KFG Clan Groningen
In 2001 XtremeS worked for a small IT company called BusyDoc, where he repaired and delivered PCs and also maintained and installed networks. One of the customers and kind of friend of the boss and his wife was Bullet. So therefore Xtremes and Bullet talked on a regular base about Bullet's sons and their gaming interests. To XtremeS's surprise he found out that Bullet was also an avid gamer. Thats were the online gaming started, XtremeS established SOF2 and RTCW servers at his house and Bullet, Mroops, XtremeT, Killing4fun and Shoot2kill all had fun playing together.
Soon XtremeS came up with the idea to establish a small website for fun, and so KFG, the Killers from Groningen, emerged. More players joined in 2002 and we became quite a clique on the public servers. People frequently asked "hey are you a clan? Do you have a website and can I join?". We never had ambitions to grow big but it was nice to attract more players. At the end of 2002 the first official KFG web site was launched, complete with forum.
From that point on, despite some ups and downs, we continued to recruit members. We relaunched the website in 2004 and even more KFGers started playing on the public Enemy Territory (ET) servers.
In 2005 we decided to invest in our own ET game and TeamSpeak (TS) servers thanks to contributions from a few of the clans serious gamers. Servers are expensive! We continued to grow during 2007 and now more gamers are motivated to make regular donations. The motto of KFG is: "We do not win , good team play is all that counts! "
After running an Enemy Territory game server for quite some years, we decided as a clan due to the lack of interest to shut down the server in April 2012. Some of us still continue to play Enemy Territory on other servers while others choose to play Battlefield 3. After a while a couple of members rented a Battlefield 3 server themselves which by now is managed by KFG.
All this makes KFG a nice fun clan. We believe that the social aspect of gaming is very important - we encourage people to come on TS, to get to know each other and create new friendships and connections. In addition, we strive to organise at least one LAN party a year and these have always been very popular.
This is more or less the history / origin of the KFG on one A4 sheet. A friendly club that has grown into a nice cozy Funclan!
The KFG logo
Q: The KFG logo, what is it and where does it come from?
A: Well thats easy, the logo was made by *KFG*S!lv3rbull3t who was inspired by the "Kromstaart" coin from Groningen which was minted in 1990 in honor of the 950th anniversary of the city of Groningen.
